Enrichment opportunities are an important aspect of life at the Winsford Academy and we have high levels of participation in our wide and varied extra-curricular timetable.  We regularly run residential trips, both nationally and internationally, including skiing, battlefield tours, watersports, DofE expeditions and provide many opportunities for language immersion.  Every student is expected to sign up for activities from the extra-curricular timetable where the activities on offer include football, rugby, netball, cooking, music, drama, scrabble and Chess, as well as homework clubs.  It is our belief that students should be allowed to explore their talents in a range of activities so that they develop a sense of self awareness, an appreciation for healthy

lifestyles and build lasting friendships through teamwork and camaraderie. We aim to provide a broad and balanced range of opportunities so that each and every one of our students has the opportunity to shine.

We also provide the opportunity for pupils to become leaders in school through our Hot Scholars Programme which is open to all pupils from years 7 to 11. Pupils apply for this role, and are linked to departments

throughout the school, becoming ambassadors for their subject, with year 11 pupils leading each team. They represent the Academy at open evenings, options evening, through primary transition days  and help to organise and run the extracurricular activities for their department.
