Winsford Academy Open Evening – What’s Happening

It is an exciting time to study and work at The Winsford Academy, as we enter a new academic year with our best ever examination results and our continued close association with the highly regarded and outstanding Fallibroome Multi-Academy Trust, based in Macclesfield.

As all schools can only really be measured on the progress they make, with individual students from their first day at secondary school, our academy is particularly proud of its levels of progress in the key subjects of English and Mathematics. 79% of all students make expected progress in English (the national average is 69%) and a significant proportion of students (40%) make four levels of progress, which is accelerated progress, the national average of which is 28%. These are the outcomes of an outstanding department. We also celebrate achievements in mathematics, where expected progress and more than expected progress levels are at national average.

Five years of rapid educational change have made it difficult for parents to judge the effectiveness of a school. So much has changed and there are a number of different measures and factors to consider when choosing the right secondary school for your child. The Winsford Academy’s results in English and Mathematics are very strong indicators of a very good school and we would expect Ofsted to come to the same judgement when they visit us this year.

Our students are well behaved, friendly, kind and considerate. Parents are fully supportive of our academy and express significantly high levels of satisfaction in how it provides for their children. Indeed, 98 per cent of parents would recommend the academy to another parent.

We expect the highest standards from students, our strong school systems ensure that they are provided with a safe and friendly environment; where teachers teach and learners learn. Outstanding levels of pastoral care, delivered through a unique house system, and a diverse curriculum ensure equality and opportunity for all.

Since becoming an Academy, we have secured outstanding improvements in attendance, because students like coming to the school. Beyond the classroom, we offers an extensive range of enrichment activities, which allow students to develop new skills and interests. Our links with the community are firmly established, and through effective partnership work we are able to provide students with an impressive array of opportunities locally, nationally and internationally.

Thank you for showing an interest in our Academy.

Yours sincerely,

Andrew Taylor-Edwards

Principal
