SEND Intent Statement

At Winsford Academy students with SEND have access to a broad and balanced curriculum within our school in line with their Non-SEND peers. This is differentiated to support their additional needs. Every teacher in our school is a teacher of SEND and our students have full access to the curriculum and wider opportunities available. Additional support, mentoring, intervention and alternative packages for higher needs students are in place for individuals working closely with the young person and parents. We provide a nurturing environment that develops of the independent skills and knowledge our students require to prepare them for adulthood and their next steps in further education, employment and training.

The Winsford Academy is a mainstream secondary school and is fully inclusive in supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. As a team we have high aspirations for all our students and work closely with them to achieve their very best. We actively encourage engagement with parents/ carer’s and additional agencies to remove barriers to learning and enable access to the curriculum.

We believe that all children should be valued as individuals and offer a range of services to support all students in ensuring every child has the opportunity to fulfil their unique potential at The Winsford Academy.

The school Special Educational Needs Coordinator is Mr M Hitchen and can be contacted via email or via telephone on 01606 592300 if you have any concerns or you would like to discuss anything further.
