Curriculum Statement

Our Intent

Winsford Academy offers a curriculum which is balanced and broadly based and which:

  • promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils at the school and of society, and
  • prepares pupils at the school for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life.

And in doing so meets with the statutory guidance as prescribed by the Department for Education in the National curriculum in England: secondary curriculum

Winsford Academy is committed to providing an ambitious curriculum that is broad, balanced, challenging and enriching. We have deliberately designed our curriculum to meet the needs of all our students, to give every young person the opportunity to strive for personal excellence. We are a comprehensive school that values traditional academic learning alongside creative, practical and vocational learning. We are driven to ensure every child who leaves Winsford Academy has the qualifications, skills, knowledge and character to access aspirational Post-16 opportunities and to make a positive contribution to the town, Britain and wider society. Our learners study a full curriculum and we deliver a full range of subjects for as long as possible, ‘specialising’ only when appropriate to do so to meet their individual abilities, ambitions and aspirations.
