Today we took 65 Year 9 girls on their first school trip to a University. This trip was a chance to empower the girls in Y9 and for them to consider higher education as a future prospect.
Liverpool Hope was a good starting point for the girls to see what University life could be like for them. The girls were excited to listen to the opportunities university life could offer them.
We had listened to the inspirational Jenna Downing who talked us through the ups and downs of her early life and how she came through prejudices that ‘girls don’t skate’ to eventually become World Champion.
We ate lunch in the canteen followed by a tour of the campus, finishing with a workshop on Women’s Rights and Empowerment and how education can open so many career opportunities.
We had a lovely day and I am already planning the next trip for the boys and girls in the next few months.
